Default Have you had problems with PayPal?

I have been lucky that I have never had any problems with PayPal even after thousands of transactions. Have any of you had a bad experience like I have read elsewhere. There have been some horror stories of large amounts of money getting frozen in their accounts. Am I just lucky that it hasn't happened to me yet?

I also have not had any problems with paypal yet.But a friend of mine had his account froze due to a reason he has no idea about. I don't think they freeze your account unless suspicious activity is going on.

They froze my account because "someone" else tried to get into my account. My guess is that I tried to login with a different password because I didn't remember the right one, and they though I was a different person. This is because I got my account frozen right after I did that.

I had someone do a chargeback one time. Of course that was the pits and unfortunately Paypal doesn't really give you any say in the matter. I guess they just assume the person doing it is in the right.

I've have also heard of people getting their accounts froze. You need to be super careful you don't anger the Paypal gods who have taken it upon themselves to decide what is and isn't a "legitimate" business. Forget about whether it really is. THEY decide.

By their standards, reps for businesses like Avon or Mary Kay (businesses that have been around for years and considered by most to be legit) would not be able to do business through Paypal.

I have had problems with paypal. My account is actually frozen right now with $500 in it that I can't touch! There customer service is CRAPPY. Of Course they are owned by eBay, and that's a whole nother story....

Looking for another 3rd party merchant who doesn't charge setup and ridiculous fees

I personally really don't like PayPal's confirmed address policy. If you ship something to a customer with an unconfirmed address, and the customer claims they didn't receive the item, PayPal will refund them even if you have shipment confirmation to prove that they did get it! I think that is absolutely ridiculous. It is up to the customer to submit the correct address, and if you ship it to the address they give you and you have proof it got there, they should not be able to claim they didn't receive it at your cost. Especially since not everyone is able to confirm their addresses per PayPal's policies, so then you have to decide if you want to trust the customer or not. There are too many scammers out there to be sure. I think that is a ridiculous policy, and you don't have that problem if the customer pays through any other method other than PayPal, but so many people want to use it.

I hadn't heard about that problem, zenmomma. Thanks for sharing. Yet another thing to chalk up on the Paypal NO-NO list. It's unfortunate that they pretty much have the corner on the market so to speak for online payment processors.
