| Writer's website Hi, I'm (finally) starting to work on building a website. As I writer, I have two purposes. First, I want to make people who read my work aware of new stories and articles as they are published.
Second, I want to promote my freelance business.
Any idea how I can manage to do both things on one website without it looking too crowded? Any ideas would be appreciated. |

Definently, What i would do Is focus your mainpage on your freelance business. Put all of your past and upcoming works in your portfolio and put an update section on your main page. |

Right now all I can say is to create sub-domains , meaning that your website has two pages, one for your writing portion, one for your freelance business. |

Any idea how I can manage to do both things on one website without it looking too crowded? Any ideas would be appreciated. | There are several ways and you can see them at work at The Rich Naran Intiiative and Rich Naran Depression Awareness Home
An site with content has to be updated on a regular basis. In either site the hompage offers several methods. On the left are your content breaks. One could be an advertisement for your service and the other or others could display new example links. The right sided throughout both sites are links and ads.
Two important aspects ar a brand sense and a logo. Not one in the same because as your business matures so will your brand sense. Any other help, I think you know how to contact me. |

| Branding and logos are actually not playing a big factor in the niche Calypso is trying to conquer here. It would be best if you start focusing in a good solid layout that is attractive and has a positive appeal to your visitors eyes. No offense aquariancore thats just me.
I wouldn't spend time finding a logo, once you are successful it would be more powerful to add a logo then because people will actually be creating a buzz around the net, right now it's shouldn't have a high priority. Branding only works if your successful, no one really cares about a logo unless your well known, am I right? |

If you can't spend about $10 for a domain, try some freehosting that offers free subdomains but I suggest start with purchasing a domain name. Then you can use some free blogging softwares like Wordpress or Geekblog. If you plan on having more features, there are various CMS being offered in the market today and they are worth checking out. |
