Default My wife? Not a believer. Can you help?

My wife's p*ssed that I just "wasted" some money buying my first ebook and sell-page.

For starters, she doesn't love the product I bought (and, truth be told, I'm not exactly proud of it, myself -- it's a tad scummy, but it's got some good content, and I plan to repackage it into something less tawdry, and a little more noble; see .sig).

But, mostly, she thinks I got ripped off. I paid more than $1k, have sold "only" 4 in the first week since transfer, with no refunds requested. (Now, I'm a not-quite-minted MBA, but personally, I'd feel good if I could sell 2-3 a week for a couple of years -- the margins are great, and a 1-year payback is decent... But she doesn't speak "discounted cash flow" or "ROI.)

More than anything, though, I view this as a crash-course in info product monetization. I've already learned more about AdWords and Analytics and, hell, CSS in the past week than I'd learned in literally years as a "suit" in the online industry.

Words of wisdom from those savvier and more experienced than I? Yes, I've mined the topics for success stories, but I'm hoping someone will have some unique perspective that will help with my particular situation.

1) You're making it bigger and more complicated than it is.

2) Your approach and layout and presentation sucks really bad. It is 2008 (close enough) and your site looks exactly like all of the others selling rip off materials that I can get for free online. People go to a site like that and see the yellow highlights and the same 'ol corny "Tired of this? Tired of that?", "Don't spend any more money on this, Don't spend any more money on that"

And the best one of all - "Aren't you tired of seeing the same thing sold in a different box?"

Want to sell more? Get rid of the highlighted text and stop selling the same thing everyone else is selling in a different box. You're site isn't even a different box, it is the same as the others.

"Don't continue to waste your time with those other craptacular "traditional" methods. " I can link over 100 sites saying the same thing.

I think people are tired of it.

If I posted your site on a myspace or chat forum and asked them "What is the first word to describe this site that comes to your mind"

I'll bet you $50 paypal multiple people say "Scam" or "Scheme".

You're selling to other business men and women though...maybe they'll see through and get what you're trying to say. The less experienced newbies won't though, in my opinion.

Change everything. New layout, less corny 1999'ish "Are you tired of not making money?", "Same old materials" on and on and on. Everyone is saying the same thing. Be forward.

And this is business, of course it is unethical. That is with all business. Like a musician leaving a record label that he has been friends with for years and screwing them over so he can make more money with a different label. Morally wrong and unethical on a personal level, but it is business.

You'll sell more if you stop tearing a hole in their a** and wallets.

(I could be wrong.) <--note that b4 reply.

I think you came here just to advertise your site anyway. Probably why no one else has replied yet.

You have to wait and check it. If it really makes money for you then its noit a ripoff otherwise it is.

Wow $1k? I would tend to side with your wife. There are some amazing products out there just as this one that sell for $100 with Master Resale rights

Sorry to say, but I think you got ripped off...

The site layout and language are amateurish. I imagine someone sold him a package
