NetBusinessTalk.com Forum Guidelines

Last Updated: January 6, 2007

These guidelines are written with no intention to limit your use of the forums. They are meant to be a starting point for discussion. We would love to take it for granted that people will treat each other respectfully, not post offensive content, and all the rest, but it's easier for everyone if just spell everything out.

Let's presume that you have read through the guidelines and that you understand what you can do and what you cannot do. Please understand that if your posting privileges are taken away it is not that we have a personal vendetta against you. It's just that we must maintain the decorum of the forum or else chaos ensues. Please help us by reporting any problems that you see that are in violation of our guidelines.

To report a problem, click the following button located under the member's username to the left of their post:

Basic Rules
These rules apply to all forums.
  • Be respectful of all members and avoid confrontations. This is the most important of all rules and should be understood as such. Before hitting the submit button, please think about whether you would allow your post on your own forum.
  • Keep your posts on topic. You may make off topic posts in General Chat only.
  • Members may not post offensive or foul language. This forum runs a language filter, but we will not tolerate attempts to circumvent it.
General Rules
These rules apply to all forums.
  • Multiple user accounts are prohibited. Members are permitted a maximum of one account per person. If you violate this rule, all of your accounts will be disabled. Please contact us if you're having trouble accessing your account.
  • All publicly displayed information is limited to English only. This includes, but is not limited to, titles, posts, signatures, and attachments.
  • You may not post referral or affiliate links.
  • Members may not post or link to any references to pornography, gross violence, or anything determined to be offensive to the community.
  • Members must have a minimum of 5 posts before being allowed to post a URL. Your account will be disabled if you attempt to circumvent this by posting meaningless spam as determined by the NetBusinessTalk Staff.
  • Members must have a minimum of 25 posts before being allowed to use the Private Messaging (PM) or e-mail systems. Your account will be disabled if you attempt to circumvent this by posting meaningless spam as determined by the NetBusinessTalk Staff.
  • Members may not bump threads themselves or have their friends bump them for them. A bump is posting useless information for the sole purpose of making your post rise to the top of the list. Bumping will be determined by NetBusinessTalk Staff and action will be taken accordingly.
  • Members may not post content deemed illegal by the U. S. Government.
  • Some categories may have a "minimum post count" restriction before allowing members to post there. Please refer to the specific forum rules if you get a permission error when trying to post.
Community Center, Starting an Internet Business, and Running an Internet Business Rules
  • Members may not advertise their own product(s) or service(s) or any product(s) or service(s) that they are affiliated with. Advertising is restricted to the Advertising forums. Please read the specific rules for the Advertising forums before posting.
  • Members may not post anything that directs members to their own website.
  • Members may not solicit feedback or suggestions for their product(s) or service(s). Your account will be disabled if you are spamming our members in any manner.
Internet Business Exchange Rules
  • Advertising is limited to one post every seven (7) days.
  • Members are expected to be familiar with the rules of the forum before advertising. Any violation of the advertising rules may lead to your account being disabled.
  • Members may not trash another person's post.
  • No excessive use of colors or font sizes. Please keep your posts clean and neat. We reserve the right to modify any posts that attempt to draw excessive attention to themselves.
  • Attempts to defraud or deceive our members will lead to your account being disabled and your post(s) being removed.
Member Signatures

Every member can have a signature under their posts if they choose to. This signature can be used to promote your business or other things as long as they are yours to promote. You may not promote any enterprise that you are not specifically a part of. Repeated signature abuses will lead to your account being disabled. Your signature must follow the guidelines below:
  • Must be set up in your profile and not manually added to the bottom of your posts.
  • Must not include smilies or other images.
  • May include four clickable links.
  • May include two colors. That's two colors beyond black.
  • Must not include a font size greater than Normal.
  • Must not be longer than four lines.
  • Your signature is not for sale or for rent.
  • We reserve the right to change your signature as we feel fit.
  • May not include referral or affiliate links.
  • Must not include sales ads.
FORUM ETIQUETTE

It is important that you follow certain guidelines when you use this forum. We ask that you help bring us together as a community--and, in the spirit of community, please do contact us with any thoughts.

Using the Search Feature: It's generally best to search for the answer to your question before you ask it. However, as long as you have given the search feature one or two tries before posting your topic, that's fine. We won't be too hard on our new members, but will expect our older members to know how to use the search feature. If you do find a topic that's only similar to what you wanted to post about, please go ahead and start a new topic. You may want to reference the topic that you found in your post if that seems appropriate.

Thread Titles: Please use descriptive titles when creating a new post. This is very helpful to people browsing through the forum and looking for what they might read. You will undoubtedly receive more views on your post if you clearly state what the thread is about. Please avoid titles such as "help," "question," etc.

Thread Location: This is a little trickier than choosing descriptive titles, but shouldn't be all that hard. When creating a new post, please make sure that you spend time deciding what the best location is for your thread to be posted in. We have spent a considerable amount of time dividing this forum into useful categories, so please use them. Please don't post your thread in a popular forum just because it's popular. If you have any question about where you should post your thread, please feel free to private message me or any member of the Staff.

Grammar and Spelling: Because of the professional nature of this forum, we hope that you use correct grammar and spelling to the best of your ability. It is much easier for everyone to read. You can use programs like the Google Toolbar to check your spelling before posting.

Swearing: If you read the Guidelines thuroughly, you'll have noticed that we do not allow swearing of any kind. There's nothing about Internet business that cannot be said without swearing. In fact, quite apart from being offensive, swearing detracts from your post. There are plenty of other ways to express your displeasure.

SPECIAL NOTICE: Based on the circumstances and violations the Board Administrator may decide to ban a member with less than three warnings or without warning, as the circumstances merit. While the above policies and procedures are the rule and we will try our utmost to apply them, exceptions will occur and we will act in whatever manner we deem necessary to deal with infractions and behavior.

The opinions expressed on NetBusinessTalk.com are those of the contributors and do not indicate any "official" opinion of the owners of NetBusinessTalk.com, affiliates or partners.
